  1.                          INSTALLATON INSTRUCTIONS
  2.                           
  3.      This 'electronic book' archive has been prepared with a state
  4. of the art authoring program for DOS called BigText: I highly 
  5. recommend it.  Text files are converted by BigText into executable 
  6. files with menus whose items are correlated with chapters or  
  7. illustrations in the text.  Illustrations may be incorporated into 
  8. BigText books and easily displayed.  Choose (I) from any document 
  9. screen to access the address of the publisher of BigText.

  11. INSTALLATON INSTRUCTIONS

  13.      To enjoy the reports in the archive ORIGINS13.ZIP simply
  14. unarchive the ZIP file to a directory of your choice.  Among the 
  15. files in the archive are three executables plus readme.1st which 
  16. is an ASCII text file.  The executables are self running 
  17. 'electronic books'.  DO NOT RUN ORIGINS OF MYTHOLOGY FROM A DOS 
  18. SHELL!  There is a good chance, your computer will lock up: the 
  19. program which generates the master menu from which individual books 
  20. are accessed appears not to be compatible with PCTools for DOS
  21. v8.0 and likely will cause problems with other DOS shells as well.  
  22. Proceed from a 'plain vanilla' DOS prompt.  
  23.      Simply type <Go> and the press the Enter key and you will be 
  24. presented with a master menu from which you can choose to view the 
  25. introductory to the research, which includes the registration form, 
  26. and the shareware (or registered) versions of THE ORIGINS OF 
  27. MYTHOLOGY and the MATSE AND THE DREAMTIME.  Simply follow the self 
  28. explanatory instructions at the bottom of the screen. The opening 
  29. screen of each the 'book' will appear with menu items for you to 
  30. select with the keyboard.  These menu items correspond to chapter 
  31. or section headings within the document.  By selecting one, you will 
  32. jump immediately to that section.  If you wish to read the document 
  33. from the beginning to the end without interruption, select the first 
  34. menu item and proceed.  Moving throughout the 'book' is intuitive 
  35. using the arrow, page, home and end keys.  Read the top and bottom 
  36. menu bars for 'hot keys' which allow you to save and print sections 
  37. or the entire 'book' and perform other functions.  There are several 
  38. exceptional illustrations in each book which can be located either 
  39. spontaneously if you do a continuous read from beginning to end 
  40. or by jumping from their own menu item.  To view them, simply follow 
  41. the on-screen instructions and press the X key: any key press will 
  42. return to the text.       
  43.         If you have the Microscoft Word for Windows version,
  44. decompress the files to your WinWord directory.  Files may
  45. be opened and read as you would any text or doc file.  The same
  46. procedure should be followed for the version which is a package of 
  47. several ASCII text files.
